The Saint Patrick’s Battalion - John Riley ~ Alexander Articles

In the long annals of military history, few fighting forces have been as misunderstood and forgotten as the foreign volunteers of the Batallon de San Patricios, the Saint Patrick’s Battalion. In honor of Saint Patrick’s Day, join Tim and Derek as we explore the incredible story of the elite Irish troops who made the United State’s invasion of Mexico in the 1840s a nightmare, many of whom had themselves been privates in the US Army not long before. From the banks of the Rio Grande to the suburbs of Mexico City, journey with us through the heroic and tragic struggles of these incredible men, as well as what their sacrifices still mean to this day.

Rules:

every time the US military does something fucked up - sip

Every time our subject gets screwed over - three sips

Every time our subject embarrasses the US - shot
