Today's episode of the Alexander Society presents the mystery docket. Tim covers one of the most infamous airplane hijackings done by a single individual in aviation history Dan Copper. Better known as his epithet D.B. Cooper. What would start off as a simple 30 minute flight ended in with a man jumping off an airplane with $200,000 worth 1.3 million dollars in 2021 Yet to this day his true identity and fate is unknown.

As Black History Month closes out Derek dives into the life of one of America's most radical and heroic women: Harriet Tubman. With the help of the first-ever guest on The Alexander society, we explore her youth in bondage, her career as a conductor on the Underground Railroad, her foray into spycraft and military command during the Civil War, and the philanthropy and activism of her life after abolition.
This week's rules are:
Any time white people are on some white people's shit – We take a sipAny time Christians actually do something good – We take 3 sipsAny time today’s subject does something badass - We take a shot

Come celebrate one year of The Alexander Society with us, and listen to Tim and Derek lose our minds at the absolute nonsense that is the story of the First Crusade. Threads of history meet and combine, from the church movement to centralize the power of the Papacy to the political disunity of the Muslim Near East to the senselessly violent boredom plaguing knights in western Europe, to create the perfect storm for the Medieval Christian world to launch their armed pilgrimage to the Holy Land. Along the way we meet some colorful characters: the seemingly noble Godfrey of Bouillon, the calculating and ruthless Bohemond of Taranto, the competent but unlucky Turk General Kerbogha, and of course the elusive priest and failed general Peter the Hermit.
Rules:1. Every time somebody does something cynical for personal ambition, We take a sip2. Every time Peter the Hermit pops up, We take 3 sips3. Every time Crusaders massacre a group of people who are not Muslim, We take a shot

Our 21st episode has landed just in time for 25th of January National Opposite day!
In today's freaky roles reversed opposite day episode Tim tells us the muddy story of The Blood Countess Elizabeth Bathory while Derek scolds and corrects Tim's poor ability to research the blood Countess. Elisabeth Bathory is a name that many know due to her title as the first female serial killer. But in today's episode we find out that as with many things in history it is not as cut and dry as we would like it to be.
This weeks Rules
Derek has to correct Tim or Derek provides more historical context, we take a sip
Every time a servant is Tortured, we take 3 sips
Every time Probably didn't happen, we take a shot

Looking back on the second anniversary of a unique day in American history Jan 6th, Tim and Derek discuss the life of a complicated but nonetheless important and underappreciated figure in the long story of the American experiment: Major General Smedley Darlington Butler, one of the most decorated and revered Marines in the long history of the US Marine Corps. We go over his often dark career helping build America’s overseas empire, his disillusionment with his government’s pro-business foreign policy, and his role in breaking a plot to bring fascism to the shores of the United States.

Pull up a chair and listen to Derek tell Tim about one of history's most misunderstood figures: Attila, King of the Huns. As the medieval historian Jordanes wrote, Attila was born into the world to shake the nations. But the "Scourge of God" himself was less the barbarian devil of Roman nightmares and more a cunning and calculating strategist who waged war through diplomacy as much as by the sword. From the gates of Constantinople to the green fields of Gaul, his army of horse archers helped seal the fate of the Western Roman Empire and gave the final blow to the era of antiquity, paving the way for Europe's Middle Ages.

Next we turn our eyes to Mexico to explore the defining event of that nation’s history in the 20th Century, the Mexican Revolution and the resulting civil wars, as we follow the career of one of its most impressive and notorious caudillos: Emiliano Zapata. From the peasant farms and mountains of Morelos to the halls of power in Mexico City, his shaky alliance with Pancho Villa, his ruthless commitment to the ideals of land reform and social justice, and the betrayals that finally brought him down, Zapata’s leadership in war-torn Mexico left a stark legacy which is still felt in the nation today.
